Michelle Black - Registered Dental Hygienist
The doors of Confident Smiles opened at Aromatize Wellness Center in late May 2009 after its début at the Ottawa Wedding Show in April of the same year.
Qualifications
In September of 2007 the laws in Ontario change to allow some hygienists to work independent of a dentist. In 2008 Michelle received the "Authorization to self-initiate" from the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario.
Her career in dentistry started in March 1985 when she completed the Dental Office and Chairside Assisting program at Career Canada College, (Everest College). After working for various dental offices in Ottawa she decided she liked working more closely with clients in a preventative manner and returned to study dental hygiene, graduating near the top of her class from Algonquin College in 1994
Michelle practiced as a Certified Dental Hygienist at the office of Dr. Doug Smith, DDS (retired) for 10 years, and with the new practitioner, Dr. George Wehbi, DDS for 3 1/2 years.
Throughout 2001 to 2008, Michelle was a clinical instructor at both Algonquin College and Canadian National Institute of Health's Dental Hygiene program.
Michelle is a professional member of both the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association, Ottawa Dental Hygienists Society and the Dental Hygiene Practitioners of Ontario. She is a member in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario as well.
Her portfolio and professional standards are maintained with continuing education courses, workshops and study programs. She was certified bilingual through Glebe Collegiate in 1981 and holds current certificates in First Aid and C.P.R.
Michelle also provides her services voluntarily at First Place Pregnancy Centre.
